It had been reported that Mr. Edouard Madingou, pioneer Secretary General of the Pan African Postal Union (PAPU) died on 16th September 2018 in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo. Mr. Edouard Madingou was PAPU Secretary General from 1980 to 1982.
In a letter sent to Member States, Mr. Younouss Djbrine, the Secretary General of PAPU, said: “Mr. Madingou’s demise is a great loss to the postal fraternity of Africa and particularly, the Republic Congo where he had his stint as a seasoned postal expert. Africa’s postal fraternity mourns his demise. Mr. Madingou will be remembered as a leader of outstanding commitment to the goals and aspirations of the postal sector and particularly in sensitizing Member States to recognize the Posts as strategic infrastructure for sustainable development of our countries and our people. During his two-year tenure at the helm of the General Secretariat, he remained true to these attributes and principles by laying a solid foundation upon which the Union evolved to its present day status as a continental flagship organization”
A condolence Register has been opened by the General Secretariat in Arusha, Tanzania.
