PAPU ADMINISTRATIVE COUNCIL CHAIRMAN VISITS GENERAL SECRETARIAT
The Chairman of the PAPU Administration Council, Mr. Charles Millogo Tontama, paid a working visit to the General Secretariat in Arusha, Tanzania, on 13th May 2019.
In his remarks, the Chairman indicated that the purpose of his trip was to take stock of progress made in preparations for the upcoming 38th Ordinary Session of the Administrative Council slated to take place from He continued by saying that he paid the visit to personally visit the headquarters of our Union and have firsthand knowledge of the working conditions of our staff.
One of the highlights of the visit was an update on the PAPU House project, which is a joint venture with the government of the United Republic of Tanzania. Thereafter, the Chairman was taken to view the plot of land allocated on which the PAPU headquarters building will be constructed. He expressed his sincere appreciation for the progress made so far on the PAPU House Project and urged the Secretary General, Mr. Younouss Djibrine, to fast-track the construction process, so that the African postal fraternity can be finally boast of a befitting headquarters building. In the Chairman’s words, “this futuristic 16-storey building will not only improve the working conditions of our staff but will equally spruce up the face of Arusha city.”
Before leaving Arusha, the Chairman commended the staff of the General Secretariat, led by the Secretary General, for the efforts they put in daily to deliver on the Secretariat’s mandate notwithstanding the limited resources. He equally noted that he and the PAPU Management share the same vision and strategic direction set out for our Union.
